About Paul’s tour appointments

What type of services are you offering?

Paul will be available for the following services:

  • minor instrument repairs & tonal adjustments (details below)

  • insurance appraisals

  • estimates for major repairs (details below)

  • purchasing an instrument or bow

Where are the appointments taking place? If I book a repair appointment, where do I stay during the repair?

Drop-off/assessment appointments will be at Regus office rental locations across the state. There should be a waiting room available at each location. Paul has also done his best to reserve offices near coffee shops, restaurants, or other places of interest.

What are “minor” vs “major” repairs?

These services are typically minor enough to complete on site, same day:

  • Glue edges or corners

  • Clean, retouch, and polish

  • Tonal adjustment

  • Bridge: straighten

  • Fingerboards: reshape, dress

  • Pegs: refit

  • Tailpiece: new tailpiece, new gut, tuner, shorten

  • Post: new, refit, reset/lengthen

While on tour, the following major services typically require at least one week to complete:

  • Tonal analysis

  • Bridge: new

  • Fingerboards: new

  • Nuts: new, raise, renotch

  • Neck wedge or height regulation

  • Pegs: new

How do I pay for the services?

We ask for payments to be provided upon receipt of services. Credit card, check, and cash payments are all accepted on site.

How long will my appointment take? How does the process work?

Intake/drop-off appointments take about 15 minutes.

If your appointment is for minor repairs:

  • Paul will assess your instrument and then provide an estimate of repair for your approval. If you approve the work, Paul will complete the repairs in the afternoon (most cases) and the pickup time/location will be arranged during your initial drop-off appointment.

  • In most cases, pickup for minor repairs will be the same day, later in the afternoon. Please plan accordingly.

If your appointment is for appraisals:

  • Paul will review your items during your appointment and take all necessary notes. The appraisal later will be typed and emailed the following week.

If your appointment is for estimates (major repairs):

  • Paul will assess your items and provide an estimate and estimated timeline for major repairs. If approved, the pickup time/location/method will be arranged during your initial drop-off, and will take place at a future date.

If your appointment is to purchase an instrument or bow:

  • Based on the information provided when booking your appointment, Paul will bring instruments and/or bows within your price range. You will be able to select ones that you’re interested in, sign a trial agreement, and take the items with you for a no obligation trial period.

  • The timeline of your trial will be discussed during your appointment.
