Owner & Director of Operations; Lead Luthier

Paul is the lead luthier and owner of Carl Becker and Son. He is currently leading a new production series of affordable instruments with the same sound and quality of classic Becker instruments. He is an expert in the making, repair, and restoration of stringed instruments (violins, violas, and cellos), and specializes in tonal adjustments that help instruments of all price ranges sound their best. Paul began his violin making career in 1971 at the age of 14 by his father, Carl F. Becker and grandfather, Carl G. Becker.

LYNDA BECKER 

Director of Administration & Accounting

Lynda is the administrative and accounting director at Carl Becker and Son. For nearly 15 years, Lynda has managed all aspects of the business and administrative offices at CB&S, including business accounting, customer service, invoicing, inventory, appraisals, and certificates. Lynda also coordinates the teams at both Chicago locations, and ensuring that business operations run smoothly.

Thomas Moyer

Luthier

Thomas Moyer started working with us 2012. Tom works in the shop with Paul, helping him set up the foundation for new Paul Becker Shop instruments. Tom has been interested in strings and music for decades, and has played the guitar since he was young. Always one to work with his hands, Tom has a keen ability to work both accurately and precisely on some of the finer details of violin construction.

Vada Becker

Administrative Assistant

Vada is Paul and Lynda's youngest daughter, and she joined the family business in 2009. She is currently being trained by Paul Becker to make Becker violins and carry on the family tradition. She is learning all aspects of the business, including administrative duties.
